I’m so glad that my friend recommended H&H! We have a business with 100+ year old floors that needed some major TLC. When Derrick came to quote the job he told me that we had “1 good sand left” because the floors were so old. He said that we didn’t have to hire him, but we did have to hire someone good so the integrity of our floors weren’t compromised. One bad sand and they would be structurally unsound and would need to be entirely replaced.

H&H was able to schedule me at a time that worked well for us, gave us a reasonable estimate (not cheap but not the most expensive either!), and they sent a great, friendly, trustworthy crew. The guys were productive and efficient. They were super competent and – most important – they listened to me. This job involved matching the stain on new wood to old wood (and, what’s more, different wood). Through a lot of trial and error, they were able to come up with a winning stain combination. They took their time to get it right and it is much appreciated. The finished floor looks gorgeous! Highly recommend!

I have existing pine floors that are almost 70 years old. H&H came out, sanded and completely refinished these floors to a beautiful appearance.
A portion of the floor had been previously covered with several layers of linoleum and sheet vinyl. They were able to remove all of this and restore the floors to their finished beauty. You can’t even tell where the floor used to be covered.

We recently hired H&H to both sand and refinish our old hardwood floors, plus install new flooring on our stairs and addition. They did a GREAT job. We get so many compliments on our beautiful floors. The fixed several holes in the original floors, and you can’t even tell the difference. The stripped the original stain and applied a new, much lighter stain, and it’s just gorgeous. They walked us through selecting a wood and finish for the stairs and addition, and we couldn’t be happier. The quality of the wood is top notch, and the stains were applied beautifully. We highly recommend them (in fact, we’ve already reco’d them to several neighbors who were blown away by our beautiful floors). They aren’t the cheapest flooring guys out there, but when it comes to your floors, why go cheap? Their prices are definitely reasonable, and I’m so glad we went with them.

Our kitchen, foyer and hallways are floored a teak parquet that was installed in 1976 when our home was built. The floor was quite banged up – scratches, dents and peeling polyurethane coats. To top it all, the house flooded a year ago, and although the floor stayed down and didn’t buckle, and had been thoroughly cleaned, mud deposits still made their way down in every crack… We were advised to pull it all up and have a new floor installed. But out of respect for its original quality and the fact that it survived the flood, we decided to restore. The professionals at H&H were thoroughly familiar with this type of teak parquet, and shared our respect for it…so they set to work. They diligently protected walls and cabinetry, sanded the floor 4 times, each time with a finer grade. It was pretty scary to see the bare wood. They then vacuumed every spec of dust off of it, wiped everything down, and the next day (after showing me a couple of samples), put down the stain. It was gorgeous, but we decided that the floor really needed to be darker, so I called Derrick and sheepishly asked for a darker stain. I was impressed by both Derrick’s and Mark’s responsiveness and the total focus on giving me exactly what I wanted. The project ended up having to be extended by a day because of this, but BOY! The floor looks absolutely gorgeous. It looks like a totally new floor, not a 39 year old salvaged floor. And the finish/sealer is perfect – it’s not that polyurethane film that scratches and leaves white marks all over….it’s part of the floor itself… I am very, very impressed and totally pleased with the job, the people, and the result!

We retained H&H to do the installation and final finishing of large project outside of Georgetown. The flooring selected for the project was a very high end oak product imported from France. Our requirements for the installation were demanding. Due to the long lead time on the imported product there was not any room for error or wasteful cuts as we had a pretty tight take-off of material. H&H and their crew did a great job for us. They were prompt, businesslike, no-nonsense and true craftsmen. They did exactly what we asked of them and what they promised to do. That’s harder and harder to find these days. I highly recommend this company and will be working with them again in the near future.
